The British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG) membership website logs the activity of each member organisation’s staff who use the site, from the number of online discussions participated in, to the number of resource documents downloaded. Every year all this data is processed to give each organisation an engagement score and show how they rank compared with similarly sized organisations across the UK

Over the last few years we have assisted BUFDG in creating and delivering valuable custom engagement reports to each of their member organisations.

Our workflow uses the website data and other collated figures to generate highly visual charts and graphs that present an organisation’s engagement score and associated year in numbers in an accessible and immediate way.

The result is that BUFDG’s members can quickly ascertain whether they are getting the most from their membership and where necessary implement strategies to improve their staff engagement with BUFDG’s services.

We take consolidated spreadsheets featuring all the relevant member data supplied by BUFDG and process it within our design software, outputting a master data-merged document featuring each member’s individual report. This is printed and sent out to each organisation.

In the 2017 reports, we included an advert for the BUFDG annual conference featuring the conference logo, which had a strong visual style that we incorporated into the wider design of the reports including the various graphs and data-driven elements and associated illustrations.

The benefit to BUFDG is that the reports enable them to customise and target the support they give individual member organisations, to help meet their needs and encourage greater participation.
